T H E C O M P E T I T I O NThe Spaceward Foundation and NASA have partnered with public, private, and corporate sponsors to create the space elevator games. As a precursor to the space elevator the competition focuses on the challenges of beaming power to the climber and creating a material that can serve as the tether. Since the first competition in 2005, the prizes have steadily increased. In 2007, the climber that can ascend a 100m tether will receive a first place prize of $500,000. MClimber was one of the top finishers last year. |
